The clock’s ticking for the Elliot Building. The new budget that goes into effect Saturday includes $2 million for the Department of Management Services to raze the structure, which was built in 1962 and named after Fred C. Elliot, an engineer who oversaw Everglades drainage projects in the early 1900s.
The land the Elliot Building sits on will be part of the first phase of “Memorial Park,” which will house memorials authorized by the Legislature that have not yet been built.
The latest addition to the list is the Florida Space Exploration Monument, which got the green light last week.
