The Junior League of Tallahassee hosted its 5th Annual Mighty Meals community food distribution event this month as part of its initiative to combat food insecurity over Spring Break. This year’s event, in partnership with Second Harvest of the Big Bend, served some 1,200 families.
The distribution began at 7 a.m., but cars were wrapped around the former Sears parking lot at Governor’s Square Mall before sunrise in order to be able to receive supplies and food. The distribution provided enough food to feed a family of four three meals per day for the entire week of Spring Break.
