Corey Simon draws another challenger

Tallahassee Republican Sen. Corey Simon picked up a third challenger in his bid for a second term representing Leon and a dozen other North Florida counties.

The latest candidate to enter the race is Democrat Daryl Parks, a Tallahassee attorney who filed his candidate paperwork on Tuesday. He joins Gadsden County Commissioner Eugene Nesmith in the Democratic Primary. Sheria Griffin, a Florida Education Association executive, was also seeking the party nomination, but she has since suspended her campaign.

Simon narrowly won Senate District 3 in 2022 in what was considered one of the biggest state legislative flips of the cycle.
