Golden years get golder in new budget

by The 100 Companies

The best part about a public sector job is the benefits package. And it’s about to get even better.

When the 2023-24 budget kicks in on Saturday, state employees will be able to participate in the Deferred Retirement Option Program for eight years, up from three years, and teachers can participate for 10 years, up from the current eight years for them.

Firefighters and other first responders will also be able to retire at age 55 or 25 years of service, down from the 60 years of age or 30 years of service.

Employer contributions are also rising by 2%.
