If you’re looking for neutral, nonpartisan information about the cost of your state and local governments, there’s a newly updated resource from Florida TaxWatch that is available online.
The 2018 “How Florida Compares: Taxes” report answers questions such as where Florida ranks among the 50 states for revenue per capita and what share of the state revenue is paid by Florida businesses.
One of the key takeaways from this year’s report is that Florida continues to be a relatively low-tax state. Floridians’ per capita state and local revenue collections total $5,679, the ninth lowest among the 50 states.
