Hurricane Irma affected almost every part of Florida in some way. Thousands without power and shortages of fuel and basic necessities has Florida asking itself: How can we better prepare for the next storm?

To answer that question, Speaker Richard Corcoran has created the Select Committee on Hurricane Response and Preparedness. The committee, chaired by Speaker Pro Tempore Jeanette Nuñez, is comprised of members of the hardest-hit areas of the state acting as “an advance team to prepare the House for the regular session.”

Committee weeks begin Oct. 9, and the 2018 Legislative Session begins Jan. 9.
