Retailers Immediately Open for Hurricane Recovery

Headshot of Scott Shalley, President and CEO of Florida Retail Federation's

Hurricane Irma caused widespread devastation throughout Florida. Millions of people evacuated, while millions more stayed home and rode out the storm. Through it all, Florida’s retailers were providing food, water, supplies and more to our friends and neighbors.

The last businesses to close before the storm and the first ones to reopen after were retailers, specifically grocery stores, general retailers and restaurants.

People depend on these businesses to be open to help them begin the recovery process, start to rebuild their lives or simply to get a hot meal. Florida’s 270,000 retailers remain committed to helping our state recover.
