The month-long celebration highlights the many ways Hispanic Americans contribute to history, culture and society. Excellent ways to celebrate include:
Visit historic sites: Two noteworthy historic sites are Mission San Luis, an Apalachee-Spanish living history museum, and the Hernando De Soto State Archaeological Site, a park on the grounds where De Soto and his men camped.
Eat authentic food: Dine in restaurants serving authentic Hispanic cuisine. Two great ones to try are Maria Maria for Mexican food and Venebites for Venezuelan food.
Attend a celebration: Look for local celebrations throughout the month, such as the Hispanic Heritage Month Opening Ceremony.
