‘Hurricane Hunters’ Help Raise Awareness for Preparedness

by

June 1 is a marker for Floridians: The start of the Atlantic Hurricane Season. Whether you’ve experienced Andrew, Wilma or Matthew, remember that every storm is different, and now is the time to prepare.

That was the message from National Hurricane Center Director Dr. Rick Knabb during the 2017 Hurricane Awareness Tour May 7-12, which stopped in Orlando and Miami. The tour educated and reminded East Coast residents about hurricane preparedness.

The ever-cool “Hurricane Hunters,” U.S. Air Force Reserve WC-130J aircraft, NOAA G-IV aircraft and the NOAA WP-3D Orion research aircraft, were also featured.
