When the Florida Department of Environmental Protection enacted strict standards in 2011 to address some of the most damaged springs in the state, Wakulla Springs had lots of cleaning up to do.
Since that time, with significant cooperation and commitment between the stakeholders, the springs are close to meeting the stricter environmental standards and are one of the most improved springs in the state.
“Because of the hard work and cooperation of our state and local partners, our shared water quality goal for Wakulla Springs is in reach,” said Brett Cyphers, executive director of the Northwest Florida Water Management District.
