Dear Florida,
On March 3, 1845, you were admitted as the 27th state in the Union. Since then, you have continuously proven to the world how bold, diverse and fascinating you are.
You have battled hurricanes, filled the air with the scent of orange blossoms, launched the first Americans into space and welcomed millions of visitors to your iconic beaches, parks and attractions. You truly are the one and only Sunshine State.
At the ripe old age of 173, you are still as exciting as ever. Happy Birthday, Florida! May we enjoy many more years of sunshine with you.
