As you’ve probably noticed, watermelon season is in full swing, and lucky for us, Florida is a top producer of this delicious, sweet, summertime treat. In total, Florida annually takes in more than $100 million in cash from watermelon production!
As the season peeks in June and July, festivals are held throughout the state to celebrate and enjoy one of our top producing agricultural products.
The Jefferson County Watermelon Festival will take place Saturday, June 17, just east of Tallahassee in Downtown Monticello. The festival will include a 5K race, parade, performances, games and, of course, a watermelon eating contest.
