Florida power crews aid Louisiana

As Hurricane Barry approached the shores of Louisiana, Florida public power companies sprung into action. Knowing there may be significant damage and widespread power outages following the storm’s landfall, the electric utility in Lafayette, Louisiana, put out the call for mutual aid.

Coordinated by the Florida Municipal Electric Association, mutual aid crews, including lineworkers, supervisors, service crews and tree crews, from the City of Tallahassee and Gainesville Regional Utilities arrived in Lafayette in advance of the storm and assisted with recovery efforts.

Florida has benefited from mutual aid these past three hurricane seasons and was glad to return the favor.
