The Florida Legislature passed new maps for the State Senate and the State House. These district maps now go to the State Supreme Court for their review and approval.
The Congressional maps are in a pause related to a State Supreme Court opinion asked by Governor Ron DeSantis’ office on a map his general counsel submitted. The Governor must approve the new Florida congressional map, while the legislative maps go directly to the Supreme Court without review.
That Congressional map is under fire from opponents. It eliminates the Al Lawson-represented District 5 that encompasses Tallahassee and Jacksonville. Session ends March 11.
