The Old City Electric Building, built in 1921, was Tallahassee’s second coal-fired power plant but could not keep up with the power demands of the rapidly growing city. Sitting empty for decades and falling into disrepair, the city stabilized the structure in the 2000s and added it to the Tallahassee-Leon County Register of Historic Places.
In 2015, a group of entrepreneurs transformed the building and opened The Edison Restaurant. The name pays homage to both electricity and Thomas Edison, the lightbulb inventor.
Diners are invited to tour the building and soak in the rich history as they enjoy their meal.
