Due to a low participation rate for the US Census, Florida’s in danger of gaining only one additional congressional seat for 2022 rather than the two predicted prior to COVID.
Congressional seats are based on populations of the states. Math determines what number of seats each state receives. More people in the state, more districts, more power for the state.
The participation rate at the moment is just 77 percent, below the national average and on the cut line for a second Congressional seat. With a Sept. 30 final deadline, it’s all hands on deck to complete a full census.
