The Modern Fish Act

by

The Modern Fish Act (S. 1520/H.R. 2023) took one step in federal legislation and a leap for recreational saltwater anglers when it passed a U.S. Senate committee on Feb. 28, giving hope to anglers across the nation.

Since 1976, commercial and recreational fishing in federal waters have been regulated by the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act. In July 2017, recreational saltwater anglers proposed a plan to update those regulations – that plan being the Modernizing Recreational Fisheries Management Act, or, the Modern Fish Act.
