Knock It out of the Park, Chief

The news broke on a Friday: the elected official known for his measured and cerebral approach was stepping down as Florida’s Chief Financial Officer.

As CFO Jeff Atwater’s former Press Secretary, I was as surprised as many. But, I knew more than most, the tremendous loss for Florida. Ever the public servant, Jeff Atwater will be etched in Florida’s history; a legislator, Senate President, and Chief Financial Officer.

As he begins his next journey in academia, I, along with so many former staffers, wish him the best. No doubt, like his beloved Cardinals, he’ll knock it out of the park.
