Common sense. Seems like these days, we could use a lot more of it. This belief drove an ordinary egg farmer and business owner like me to run for public office in 2012.

As a businessman, farmer and public official, my experience is that compromise can be reached with simple strategies: take time to listen, be earnest and respectful, and learn to disagree without being disagreeable. A little bit of common sense goes a long way.
