South Florida is home to the Florida panther, and according to the National Wildlife Federation, hunting decimated the population so badly it was one of the first added to the endangered species list in 1973. Today, only 120 to 230 Florida panthers are left in the wild.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) recently identified a new threat to the population – a neurological disorder. FWC has requested that citizens submit their trail-camera footage or other videos to help identify panthers suffering from this disorder.
