On Sunday, June 25, a controlled burn in the city of Eastpoint in Franklin County roared out of control, destroying 36 homes, maybe more. In its aftermath, an estimated 200 displaced residents stayed with families, neighbors, camped out or lived out of their cars.

The State Division of Emergency Management has secured 24 travel trailers now on their way to be used as temporary housing, with negotiations to provide six mobile homes as permanent housing for locals.

Here’s one way to help. Please consider contributing to the GoFundMe page set up by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, directly benefiting victims.
