September 15–October 15 marks Florida Hispanic Heritage Month, and this year Governor Rick Scott and First Lady Ann Scott chose “A Recognition of the Role of Hispanic-Americans in Shaping Florida Today” as the theme.
Hundreds of students in grades 4-12 have already submitted their essays for review, hoping to win the contest that awards four-year Florida College Plan scholarships provided by the Florida Prepaid College Foundation.
Parents, teachers and principals are also invited to nominate outstanding educators for the Hispanic Heritage Month Excellence in Education Award.
The 2017 Hispanic Heritage Month featured artist is Carmen Sasieta.
