The Tallahassee Democrat featured Maclay School for an innovative art project that reinforces the school’s core values while developing creative capacities.
Their “eM bracelet” project is schoolwide, with kindergartners through seniors making bracelets. It is designed to embed empathy into the art curriculum as part of a complete education and builds a positive classroom culture, strengthens community and prepares the students for leadership.
The bracelet is a powerful symbol for students. The charm has “eM” on it because it is not only the first two letters of empathy, but spells “me” backward and reminds students about putting others before themselves.
