With Memorial Day quickly approaching (landing on May 25 this year) it’s worth taking a moment to remember the true meaning behind this American holiday. No, it’s not to barbecue or hit the beach. The real purpose for this late May observance is much more important and somber.
Memorial Day, which became a federal holiday in 1971, pays tribute to those who have perished in service to our nation, laying the ultimate sacrifice upon the altar of freedom.
This year, let’s all take a moment to honor their memory and spend Memorial Day doing some of these fun family-friendly activities.
