Monday, Feb. 15 is Presidents’ Day!
This often-overlooked holiday has an interesting backstory. For instance, you may not know that it was established in 1855 in honor of George Washington’s birthday (Feb. 22) — he would be 289 this year — but it was moved to the third Monday in February with the passage of the 1971 Uniform Monday Holiday Act.
There are also many fun and interactive ways to celebrate the holiday, even during a pandemic. You can commemorate it by taking a virtual tour of The White House or George Washington’s estate, Mount Vernon.
