J.J. Jimenez: Shining above the Rest

This time of year, the click-clack of women’s heels and shuffle of men’s loafers is like a symphony downtown. As we clock steps and hope 3,000 steps is enough (it’s not), J.J. Jimenez knows no matter how many steps you take, everyone can use a shoe shine.

Next time you pass Nic’s Toggery downtown or G.Willie’s Uniforms, get a shine from JJ’s Shoe Shine. His story is a tale of determination and some elbow grease. Having honed his skills while incarcerated, J.J. started his own business bringing shoes back to life.
