The budget approved by the state Legislature earlier this month would direct more than $200 million toward Tallahassee and the surrounding 12-county region. The total includes $80 million for the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services’ new office complex, which will cost $208 million in all, but the spending will be spread over multiple years.
The sum also includes $50 million for school construction as well as tens of millions for several local projects sponsored by the region’s four-member legislative delegation. The list includes $4 million requested by Rep. Jason Shoaf for land acquisition and research at Wakulla Springs.
