Billed as a Florida first, Precision Building and Renovating, utilizing a massive COBOD construction 3D printer from Printed Farms (a Wellington-based startup) is printing a house in a northwest Tallahassee neighborhood.
Using a substance called Laticrete, the video of the printer at work is mesmerizing, building two feet of wall per day. The estimated cost of the three bedroom home is under $200,000, with the speed of construction an advantage.
Exploring benefits of the process in affordability and hurricane resistance, the speed of this house’s outer wall construction is about a week with savings at 25 percent of traditional methods.
