As the United States Census reached its frantic closing weeks last spring, America was going into the first pandemic shutdowns, making the final push more difficult, Florida’s increase of 14.6% since 2010 was lower than expected.
The final tally gives Florida a population of 21.5 million people.
As the Census count relative to all states’ growth, Florida was about 170,000 short of gaining two Congressional seats, which many experts were nearly certain would happen. With only one additional seat, Florida will now have 28 Congressional districts, and with the two US Senate seats will have 30 electoral votes in 2024.
