Perseid meteor shower peaks this week

by The 100 Companies

This year’s Perseid meteor shower peaks in North America Thursday, Aug. 12 and continues through the 14th. By looking northeast from North and Central Florida, the show could reveal about 60 visible meteors per hour, as long as you’re in a dark area with decently clear skies.

At the Perseids’ maximum, these meteors appear to diverge from a point called the “radiant” located near the famous Double Star Cluster in northern section of the constellation Perseus.

After moonset and the night progresses, the radiant rises progressively higher into the sky in the northeast until the break of dawn ends observing.
