End of an era: Mike Martin’s final season

by
Mike Martin

The man who has graced FSU’s dugout for 40 years will leave the game following the 2019 college baseball season.

While the sport will bid adieu to its all-time winningest coach, the loss won’t be most felt on the stat sheet. “Eleven,” as Mike Martin is universally known, will leave the game as one of the greatest gentlemen, teachers and role models ever tasked with the privilege of molding young athletes.

As he begins this final trip around the diamond, let’s hope it ends in mid-June with Eleven uttering his favorite sentence: “I’ll see you in Omaha.”
