A memorial service for former Florida State baseball coach Mike Martin took place this past Saturday at Dick Howser Stadium. Per Coach Martin’s request, guests were asked to wear “Seminole casual” clothing and no neckties and were asked to be seated by 11:45 a.m.
Martin, known by his jersey No. 11, took Florida State to the College World Series 17 times but never won a championship. He is the winningest coach in college baseball history with 2,029 victories, more wins than any coach in any college sport. He died Feb. 1 after a three-year battle with Lewy body dementia.
