If you’ve never watched “The Voice” here’s one reason to tune in this year – Tallahassee’s own Royce Lovett made it through the first round on Sept. 24.

According to his online bio, the 30-year-old taught himself the guitar, started writing music at a young age and got his first gig at a local pizza place in high school.

The Tallahassee Democrat reports that Lovett has been performing regularly at popular venues, including the July 4 Celebrate America at Tom Brown Park, Springtime Tallahassee, New Year’s Eve at Kleman Plaza and, most recently, the Sundown Series in Cascades Park.
