Do you know why you are celebrating Cinco de Mayo today? There is more to the date than just an excuse to drink margaritas and eat tacos.
The day signifies Mexico’s surprising military victory over Napoleon III’s French troops at the Battle of Puebla in 1862. Mexican troops defended the town even though they were outmatched 6,000 to 2,000.
There will be approximately 87 million pounds of avocados used and 4.5 billion tacos consumed on this day. So, it is time to gather with friends, put on a good playlist, try a new drink recipe and celebrate the Battle of Puebla!
