Did you know February is National Children’s Dental Health Month?
The Florida Department of Health has an initiative called Sealing Sunny Smiles Across Florida. This program promotes cavity prevention through school-based sealant programs throughout the state. Dental sealants are reportedly the most effective way to prevent cavities in permanent molars, where over 80 percent of decay occurs in the permanent teeth of children.
Currently, 54 out of 67 Florida county health departments provide this school-based program. We all know the better our dental hygiene, the healthier the person, and this program is helping our kids stay healthy longer.
