State officials have reopened the Senate parking garage two years after repairs began and will shortly begin similar work on the House garage.
Both projects include fixing structural deficiencies on the 40-year-old garages, removing old waterproofing, installing new waterproofing and creating memorial gardens. As workers make needed repairs inside the House garage, the public will see how the capitol will become more accessible. Upon completion, the grounds will include areas for monuments, memorials and events.
During the two-year House project, pedestrians can access the capitol from the north using the crosswalk in front of Tallahassee City Hall.
