When school is out, food banks across the country, including Second Harvest of the Big Bend, fill the gap for hungry kids missing school lunches by offering summer food programs. They need local support to meet this important need.
Every dollar from monetary donations provides multiple meals. Often, you can designate your donation to a specific program. Tallahassee’s food bank accepts food donations at its warehouse or any Goodwill or Super-Lube location in Leon and Gadsden counties.
Feeding America makes county, congressional district and statewide food insecurity statistics available online. Please consider donating food for a summer without hunger.
