Leon County opened a new multi-use trail along Proctor Road, just east of Thomasville Road, earlier this month.

The two-mile trail is open to hikers, bikers and runners. It’s the first phase of a park that will include other municipal athletic fields in future phases of construction, which meets the need for more outdoor recreation in the area.

The county worked with Gulf Winds Track Club, Tallahassee Mountain Bike Association, and the Chiles High School cross-country team to get feedback on the trail layout. The Chiles team took its inaugural run following the Jan. 8 ribbon-cutting.
