Job offer scams become more sophisticated

by The 100 Companies

Online and telephone scams have become more sophisticated in their attempt to take our identities and ultimately our money, now targeting those seeking employment.

Recent reports show how insidious the plots have become, with scammers developing online relationships over a period of time with vulnerable job seekers. Often offering good starting salaries for flexible working hours in a “management-track position,” the job offers may require a filing or background check application fee. Those targeted are not just seniors, but largely the 25-34 age bracket.

The bottom line remains: If the offer is too good to be true, it probably is.
