This month, the two blocks on East Gaines Street between South Calhoun Street and South Meridian Street, to the north of Cascades Park, begin the revitalization of what is to become 5 acres of “Tallahassee’s largest economic development initiative in recent history.”
With some controversy, the landmark live oak tree on the northeast corner of the site will be preserved as required by the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA). According to North American Properties, site preparation will continue to take place through spring 2018, with new construction beginning in late summer.
The grand opening is slated for late 2020. Renderings here.
