Ask Questions

I’ve hired bright college graduates for their first job since 1987. At orientation, I emphasize one point: the only dumb question is the one you didn’t ask.

The workplace can be competitive, and ambitious people want to look good. That may make them reluctant to ask questions. The reality is that the workplace is a place to learn, to develop knowledge and skills that allow people to be their best. Everyone, from the newest intern to the CEO, should use the workplace as classroom.

Good managers set the example by asking questions themselves and encouraging all to do the same.
