Voters Absent in Florida Primary

16.52 percent. 19.21 percent. Those are voter turnout numbers for Broward and Palm Beach Counties in the primary.

So much for voter anger, mistrust and blaming the “establishment.” If the response to pent-up anger is to stay home, we are all losers in this process. Statewide turnout was 23.85 percent: less than one in four voters bothered to vote.

Hotly contested races didn’t move the needle. Wasserman-Schultz in Broward, blamed for how her party was run, didn’t move the needle. The big primary winners were Rubio, with more than a million votes, and Amendment 4.
