UCF declared 2017 College Football National Champions

Governor Rick Scott holding up a piece of paper

As a not-so-recent graduate from the University of Central Florida, where football games were more of a social event than true sporting contests, this Knight is proud of our undefeated 2017 team.

While the UCF Knights are the only undefeated team in NCAA Division 1 football this season (beating Auburn, who lost to both Georgia and Alabama) it stands to reason that the Orlando-based team become official 2017 College Football National Champions.

But don’t take my word for it. Gov. Scott signed a proclamation — currently being framed for bragging rights — declaring it so (at least in Florida).
