certified wildlife habitat

If you are looking for a summer project that might spark an interest in the environment, encourage your family to work together to get your yard designated a Certified Wildlife Habitat.

With a little research and a $20 application fee, the process is simple. And, the proceeds from the fee directly support the National Wildlife Federation’s programs to protect wildlife.

The fun part is researching and planning improvements in your yard to sustainably provide food, water and shelter for wildlife. The project can be as simple as refreshing your plants or more complex with the addition of a rain garden.
