Tallahassee Opens National Cemetery for U.S. Veterans

by

Tallahassee is close to completing the planning and construction of a 250-acre National Cemetery for Veterans with the capacity for 80,000 burials projected over 100 years. Florida has the third largest veteran population in the country and currently has nine national cemeteries throughout the state.

The decision to open the cemetery in Tallahassee was based on the number of veterans within a 75-mile area.

More than 500 burials have already taken place at the new site located on the eastside of town off Apalachee Parkway. The cemetery is expected to be completed within the next two months.
