Mention the word lobbyist and what images come to mind? Backroom deals by cigar-smoking fat cats, perhaps? Well, nothing could be further from the truth.
In fact, it is one of many reasons why a group of individuals founded The Florida Association of Professional Lobbyists (FAPL) in 2002.
FAPL’s mission is to establish and maintain high standards for the lobbying profession, focusing on education and ethical conduct. It also created a gold standard, the DPL (Designated Professional Lobbyist), for those government relations professionals who develop in-depth knowledge of the legislative and political process, its rules, regulations and ethics.
Due to Hurricane Irma, the FAPL conference has been postponed.
