When Broadway closed last March 12, it really stuck with me this pandemic was real. Broadway only goes dark for winter blizzards and national emergencies.
The earliest Broadway can re-open is the first of June, with vaccination rates and infection spread their measurement.
The challenge for producers and patrons will be testing, sanitizing and socially distant ticketing in small theatres. We know they were constructed for a smaller 1920’s person, not a 2020’s-sized adult. Can the reduced ticketing and financial viability co-exist? The theatres will not re-open all at once, some are targeting a September return to raise their curtains.
