Remembering Hurricane Irma

by
Hurricane Irma

Tuesday, Sept. 10 marks the two-year anniversary of Hurricane Irma making landfall in Cudjoe Key.

At its peak, Irma spanned 300,000 miles, which is bigger than the state of Texas. It was the most powerful Atlantic hurricane in recorded history and the fifth-costliest hurricane in history, causing roughly $65 million in damages.

Even though almost everyone in the state was affected, Floridians were able to come together and help one another.

The approach of Hurricane Dorian reminded us that we must remain vigilant and reflect on the lessons learned during the tough time wrought by Hurricane Irma.
