Florida State University Board of Trustees is bringing on the legal team at Lawson Huck Gonzalez as it presses forward with a lawsuit to exit the Atlantic Coast Conference.
According to a court filing, the legal team will be led by named partner Alan Lawson, a former Florida Supreme Court Justice who retired in 2022. The team also includes Raymond Treadwell, a former Chief Deputy General Counsel in the Governor’s office.
FSU is looking to leave the ACC because the conference’s financial payouts are not competitive with those of other Power Five conferences, such as the Big Ten and the SEC.
