Remembering 41 on this National Day of Mourning

National Day of Mourning

Tributes come in large and small narratives and are always impactful. President Bush’s influence on my career began when I opened his 1988 Florida campaign office. I worked on his inauguration, and later, enjoyed a four-year stint at the Republican National Committee, campaigning on Republican ideals and believing in a cause greater than self.

I met him once at an event our team advanced. In re-reading his 1992 speech, he shared, “America isn’t a nation that gets ahead by tearing down others. Time after time, America’s been called upon. And time after time, America has met the challenge.”
